Background & Context
Type 1 aggregate deposits (aggregates from demolished concrete) are a highly sought-after resource in Northern France's Hauts-de-France region. Concrete manufacturers are increasingly interested in incorporating this type of deposit into their products. However, as the sector is still in its infancy, a lack of visibility was observed regarding the availability of these deposits.
In this regard, CEMEX NORD wanted its concrete production activity based on recycled aggregates to be carried out in the European Metropolis of Lille (MEL), in Hauts-de-France. To this end, identifying Type 1 aggregate deposits available in the region represented a real opportunity to anticipate future flows and prepare plants for the integration of recycled aggregates into production.
In this context, Neo-Eco assisted CEMEX Nord in identifying Type 1 aggregates in the MEL region and its surrounding areas that could supply CEMEX concrete plants.

What We Did
We studied all current and future operations within the MEL territory (NPNRU, development projects, etc.)
We quantified all potential concrete deposits and created of a deposit production schedule
We carried out a study of local stakeholders, including aggregate processors
We conducted a further study future needs and opportunities
