The benefits of selective deconstruction over outright demolition are well known, and initiatives have been launched and are ongoing across Europe. However, this approach is currently under-implemented, particularly due to a lack of information among stakeholders (industrial stakeholders, project owners, municipalities, etc.) on existing techniques and legislation, with disparities depending on the country or region.

VALDEM is taking over these initiatives to apply the concept of on-site treatment across borders, supporting companies in well-defined sectors (demolition and deconstruction companies, Approved Treatment Centers, ready-mix or precast concrete manufacturers, and public works companies).

The VALDEM project will enable the recovery of certain flows from deconstruction and demolition, which are currently only used as mixed aggregates, with recurring quality issues.
