The excavated soil and sediment valorisation project in Hauts-de-France is moving forward

Turning excavated soil and sediments into resources: a major step forward for the circular economy in Hauts-de-France.

Today, 65% of the waste generated in the Hauts-de-France region comes from the construction sector, with large volumes of excavated soil and sediments. In response to this challenge, Neo-Eco, the Hauts-de-France Regional Council and their partners are developing innovative solutions to unlock the value of these materials.

🎯 Objective: transform these materials into eco-materials and eco-products, in line with the AGEC and LTECV regulations.

⇒ Reduce waste storage and limit the extraction of natural resources

⇒ Boost the local economy and structure a sustainable circular value chain

⇒ Above all, deploy a replicable approach across the entire region

Where do we stand?

🟢 Phase 1 – Material studies : Analysis of materials to identify the most relevant valorisation pathways. The characterisation of excavated soil and sediments is nearing completion.

⚪ Phase 2 – Formulation : Validation of the technical and environmental feasibility of the solutions.

A project supported by Europe The project is supported by a €2,026,073 grant from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). This funding will enable us to strengthen our team, invest in technologies and bring ambitious ideas to life.
