👏Congratulations to the entire team for this #sustainable construction project, which received the Circular Economy Award for the Waste Recovery Unit at the LFB site in Arras.
✔This project was born from LFB's desire to construct a sustainable industrial building within its future pharmaceutical production site located near Arras. This unit will house all production waste and by-products, some of which will be directly #recovered thanks to a process integrated into the building.
✔Beyond the ambition to integrate the circular economy into the pharmaceutical lifecycle, LFB also aims to make the new plant a showcase in both its functionality and design. LFB thus has strong ambitions for #responsibleconstruction with the design of this low-environmental-impact Waste Recovery Unit.
✔This desire gave rise to a collaboration between LFB, Neo-Eco (Maude Soubeiran), and BLAU Architecture, Urban Planning, Participatory Approaches, and Circular Economy to design and support the construction of the building to create the "Valorization Unit."
♻Specifically, the use of bio-sourced, recycled, and reused materials, primarily from local sources, was favored. This implementation was also made possible thanks to partnerships such as EQIOM, A CRH Company for the recycled slab, Etex for the reclaimed cladding, and ARTOIS ECO PAILLE for the supply of local straw.
♻Furthermore, operations were optimized to take advantage of surrounding resources to power the building: bioclimatic design, natural ventilation, rainwater harvesting, and connection to on-site energy.
This project, with strong #environmental ambitions, aims to demonstrate the feasibility and replicability of constructing #low-carbon industrial buildings while developing operational #eco-product sectors.
A big thank you to the CD2E for organizing this first #TrophéesREV3 Sustainable Building Awards and to the Hauts-de-France Region for their support.
